The bitter Kapur family inheritance dispute took a dramatic turn in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, with Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing actor Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan Raj, attacking the validity of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s will and sharply criticising his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur.
Calling Priya an “acute gambler,” Jethmalani alleged that the will was riddled with “serious infirmities” and could not have been prepared or approved by Sunjay Kapur himself.
“When you get ‘she’ and ‘her’ wrong in four places, a man like Sunjay Kapur wouldn’t have signed it,” he told Justice Jyoti Singh.
He further argued that there was “no digital footprint” or handwriting to prove Sunjay’s involvement, calling him a “digital ghost.”
Jethmalani also questioned why Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, was excluded from the list of beneficiaries despite earlier provisions made for her.
The court has previously barred both sides from disclosing asset details publicly.
Priya Kapur, who has already received ₹1,900 crore from the family trust, had earlier been accused by the children’s counsel of being a “Cinderella stepmother” who mistreated them while securing control over the estate.
