The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said that recent revisions to the White House factsheet on the proposed India-US trade deal are in line with the mutually agreed framework between the two countries.
Addressing the weekly press conference, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified that both sides had agreed to a joint statement outlining the framework for an interim agreement on reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade.
He emphasised that the joint statement remains the foundational basis of the shared understanding between New Delhi and Washington.
“We had agreed to a joint statement on the framework for an interim agreement on reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade. The joint statement is the framework and remains the basis of our shared understanding in this matter,” Jaiswal said.
He added that the amendments made to the US factsheet reflect the shared understandings contained in the joint statement.
