The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday announced the formation of a high-power committee to investigate the devastating bus fire in Kurnool that has claimed 20 lives.
The committee will include senior officials from the transport, roads, and revenue departments, Home Minister V. Anitha confirmed.
How the accident unfolded
The accident occurred early Friday when a Hyderabad-to-Bengaluru passenger bus collided with a motorbike near Kurnool and caught fire shortly after impact.
The bus, carrying 39 passengers, was quickly engulfed in flames, leaving 19 people, including two children, dead on the spot.
The motorbike rider, identified as Shiva Kumar of Kurnool, also perished. One more person succumbed to injuries later, taking the toll to 20.
