BCCI demands Asia Cup trophy handover; ACC chairman “still hasn’t agreed”

After India defeated Pakistan to win the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai, the BCCI demanded the trophy be handed over to the Indian team.

However, ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board, “still hasn’t agreed,” an ACC source said.

The Indian team had refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi during the final presentation, citing his political role in Pakistan. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia called the situation “very unfortunate.”

Naqvi reportedly took the trophy to his hotel and has proposed a formal ceremony for its handover, which the BCCI considers unnecessary. The issue is expected to be raised at the ICC conference in Dubai.

This standoff has added tension to an already sensitive India-Pakistan cricketing relationship
