Following a massive cloudburst on Tuesday, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami described the situation in the state as a “big disaster”, as a series of cloudbursts that began on 5 August continue to wreak havoc.
“Due to this, there has been a huge loss to our lives and property and our resources have been affected,” Dhami stated, adding that the state is deploying significant resources for recovery and relief.
According to the Dehradun district disaster management office, areas including Sahastradhara, Maldevta, Santla Devi and Dalanwala were among the worst affected in Tuesday’s cloudburst.
The calamity has disrupted roads, electricity, and power lines across several regions, further complicating relief efforts.
Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister assured that all possible measures are being taken to restore essential services and extend assistance to affected families as rescue operations continue in full swing.
