BNP leader blames Sheikh Hasina for Khaleda Zia’s death

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader has blamed the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the death of ex-PM and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan linked Zia’s deteriorating health to her prolonged imprisonment and alleged denial of proper medical care.

The Daily Star, reports that Nazrul made these remarks after the funeral prayers for Khaleda Zia were held at Manik Mia Avenue.

He said Khaleda was sent to jail on February 8, 2018, as a result of what he described as “personal vengeance” by Hasina. Nazrul claimed that Khaleda emerged from prison seriously ill and never recovered fully.

He further alleged that restrictions on her medical treatment, including the denial of permission to seek care abroad, worsened her condition over time.

Nazrul asserted that Sheikh Hasina would not be able to evade responsibility for Khaleda Zia’s death, calling it the outcome of years of political persecution.
