In order to tackle drainage issues, the Delhi government on Tuesday has approved three major drain remodelling projects with ₹125 crore in north Delhi to tackle waterlogging.
Delhi’s PWD minister Parvesh Sahib Singh briefed about the remodeling project that has been cleared under the Drainage Master Plan 2025 and will be executed by the Public Works Department.
The first project involves remodelling the stormwater drain from Azadpur H-Point to Mukarba Chowk along the Mall Road Extension, covering a stretch of 7.74 km at an estimated cost of ₹33.11 crore.
The second project, also on the Mall Road Extension, will remodel drains from Camp Chowk to Azadpur H-Point over 0.81 km, with ₹44.38 crore sanctioned.
The third project covers drain remodelling in Model Town-II, Model Town-III and Kushal Cinema Road, spanning nearly 8 km, at a cost of ₹48.13 crore.
Officials said the projects aim to provide long-term, planned drainage solutions, reduce waterlogging incidents, and strengthen flood resilience in north Delhi over the coming decades.
