Novak Djokovic produced a stunning comeback to defeat second-seeded Jannik Sinner in a five-set epic, securing his place in the Australian Open 2026 final. The final scoreline read 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
After falling behind two sets to one, the Serbian star rallied to claim the last two sets 6-4, 6-4, overcoming a recent hoodoo against Sinner, who had won all five of their previous encounters, including the 2025 Wimbledon and Roland Garros semifinals, and the 2024 Australian Open semifinal.
With this victory, Djokovic, 38, will face world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, who will play his first Australian Open final on Sunday. The 22-year-old Spaniard is aiming to complete a career Grand Slam, which would make him the youngest player in 88 years to achieve the feat, having already won six major titles.
Djokovic, meanwhile, will be chasing a record-extending 25th Grand Slam. The stage is now set for an electrifying clash at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday.
