Dr Umar’s family denies terror links, says ‘he wasn’t that kind of man’

On Tuesday, Dr Umar Un Nabi’s family denied his alleged involvement in terror activities, calling the allegations “impossible to believe.” Dr Umar is one of the prime suspects in Monday’s deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort

As per the CCTV footage, Nabi, a doctor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, was reportedly driving the Hyundai i20 that exploded near Sunheri Masjid around 6:52 pm, killing at least 13 people and injuring over 30 others.

Nabi’s sister-in-law, Muzamila, termed him as a quiet, studious man who focused on his career. “He wasn’t that kind of man. We struggled a lot to educate him. He was reserved since childhood and only focused on studies,” she told ANI.

Muzamila also mentioned that Nabi had last visited home two months ago and was recently engaged.

Dr. Umar’s role:

Investigators believe Nabi transported explosives from Faridabad to Delhi and was also present in the car during the blast.

The Delhi Police, probing the case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, said ammonium nitrate and fuel oil were likely used.

The case has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), though the exact motive behind the explosion remains unclear.
