Here’s why IndiGo flights are facing disruption at Delhi Airport today

Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were severely hit on Wednesday as 38 IndiGo flights, both domestic and international, were cancelled between midnight and evening amid a combination of technical glitches and operational issues.

The disruption left thousands of passengers stranded across terminals, with long queues forming at help desks.

The cancellations were part of a wider nationwide disruption that saw more than 70 IndiGo flights grounded, including 42 from Bengaluru and 32 from Mumbai, largely due to an acute crew shortage following the new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) implemented on November 1.

Technical issues, airport congestion, and other operational constraints further compounded delays.

IndiGo’s On Time Performance (OTP) dropped to 35% at major metro airports on Tuesday. The airline attributed the chaos to multiple “operational challenges” and urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to airports.

Other carriers such as Air India, Akasa Air and SpiceJet also faced delays due to a global Amadeus check-in system outage.
