Congress Working Committee member Shashi Tharoor on Monday rejected speculation that he had deviated from the party’s official stand, saying he has consistently remained aligned with the Congress line.
Tharoor cleared the air while speaking to reporters after attending the Lakshya 2026 Leadership camp organised by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) in Sultan Bathery, aimed at preparing for the upcoming state Assembly elections.
“My question is, who said that I left the party line. Even when I expressed my opinions on various subjects, on most matters, the party and I have stood on the same line,” Tharoor said.
He added that questions he raised in Parliament were clearly directed and should not be seen as a cause for concern within the party. Tharoor also blamed selective media reporting for fuelling controversies.
“Many react after reading only headlines, not the full content,” he said, adding that a complete reading often clarifies his position.
Tharoor said he has spent 17 years in the party and enjoys good relations with colleagues, dismissing the need for any misunderstanding now.
