The Indian women’s kabaddi team clinched their second consecutive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title in Dhaka, defeating Chinese Taipei 35-28 in a thrilling final.
The victory capped a flawless campaign for India, reaffirming their dominance in the sport, according to a release from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
India sailed through the group stage unbeaten before overpowering Iran 33-21 in the semi-final. Chinese Taipei, who also enjoyed an unbeaten run in their group, booked their place in the final after defeating hosts Bangladesh 25-18.
Haryana Steelers head coach Manpreet Singh lauded the champions for their grit and unity.“The women’s team has delivered a performance the whole nation can be proud of. Their belief and teamwork were outstanding,” he said, noting the immense effort required to reach such a level.
Puneri Paltan head coach Ajay Thakur echoed the praise, calling the triumph a “very proud moment for India.”
He highlighted the team’s dominant run and said the win reflects the rapid growth of women’s kabaddi and its expanding global footprint.
With 11 nations participating, the tournament showcased the rising popularity of the sport and India’s continued supremacy on the world stage.
