Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Ukraine of launching a large-scale drone attack targeting the state residence of the President of the Russian Federation in the Novgorod Region.
In a statement, Lavrov said that during the night of December 28–29, the “Kiev regime” deployed 91 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in what he described as a “terrorist attack.”
According to the Russian foreign ministry, all the drones were intercepted and destroyed by Russian air defence systems, with no casualties or damage reported.
Lavrov claimed the alleged attack took place amid intensive diplomatic talks between Russia and the United States aimed at settling the Ukraine conflict.
Terming the incident a reckless provocation, Lavrov warned that such actions would not go unanswered.
He said the Russian Armed Forces have already identified targets and timelines for potential retaliatory strikes, underscoring a possible escalation in the conflict.
