Manoj Jarange accuses ex-minister of plotting to kill him

Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange, who led the massive protest in September demanding reservation for Marathas, has alleged that former Maharashtra minister and NCP MLA Dhananjay Munde plotted to kill him, a charge the latter has strongly denied.

According to Jalna police, two people have been detained after a complaint was filed by Jarange’s associate, Gangadhar Kalkute, alleging a conspiracy to eliminate the activist.

Jarange claimed that Munde’s aide, identified as Kanchan, took one of the suspects to a guest house in Parli, where Munde allegedly held a meeting to discuss plans to defame or kill him using “some medicines.”

Manoj further alleged that a deal worth ₹2.5 crore was struck to carry out the attack and that the accused also met Munde in Mumbai seeking a vehicle to stage an accident.

Munde dismissed the allegations as “baseless, malicious, and politically motivated,” claiming that the detained individuals were actually Jarange’s associates.

The NCP MLA said he would request Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to order a CBI probe into the matter.

Manoj Jarange’s latest allegations have reignited tensions in Maharashtra’s political circles, weeks after his successful Maratha quota agitation forced the state government to concede to his demands.
