On Friday, a special court in Delhi extended the judicial custody of two key accused in the deadly Red Fort blast case, as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) continues to probe the wider terror conspiracy behind the attack.
The court granted additional custody of Yasir Ahmed Dar and Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, allowing investigators more time to question them and verify evidence collected so far.
According to the NIA, Dar is alleged to be closely linked to the terror module and played a role in coordinating activities connected to the attack.
Dr Malla, described as one of the key conspirators, is accused of knowingly harbouring the attacker and providing logistical support, besides being involved in the destruction of evidence.
The investigation has so far led to the arrest of nine accused, including medical professionals Dr Muzammil Ganaie, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather and Dr Shaheen Saeed. Several other accused remain in judicial custody as the probe progresses.
The NIA has stated that the November 10 blast outside the Red Fort was carried out by Umar–un–Nabi, who was driving the explosive-laden vehicle.
The explosion killed at least 15 people and injured over two dozen others. Forensic examinations later confirmed Umar-un-Nabi as the driver of the i20 car.
