The father of Indian woman Nikitha Godishala, who was found murdered in Columbia, Maryland, has alleged that a financial dispute led to her killing.
Godishala was found dead with stab wounds inside an apartment on January 3, while the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Arjun Sharma, is believed to have fled to India.
Speaking to news agency ANI in Hyderabad, Telangana, Nikitha’s father Anand Godishala said his daughter had been living and working in Columbia for the past four years.
Anand alleged that Sharma, her former roommate, frequently borrowed money from her and killed her when she asked for repayment.
“Four people used to stay in an apartment. Her ex-roommate used to take a lot of money from my daughter. When she asked him to return the money before he flew to India, he killed her and ran away,” Anand said.
He also clarified that Sharma was not Nikitha’s ex-boyfriend and appealed to authorities for the early handover of his daughter’s body.
