One dead in explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort; 7 fire tenders reach site

At least one person has died following an explosion in a car near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening, officials confirmed. 

The blast occurred close to Gate No. 1 of Lal Qila Metro Station around 7 pm, triggering a fire that spread to nearby parked vehicles. 

Seven fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site to control the blaze.

Emergency teams from the Delhi Fire Services, police, and paramedics rushed to the scene as the area was quickly cordoned off to ensure public safety. 

The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined.

According to officials, teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) have arrived at the site to conduct a detailed probe into the incident. 

Forensic experts are also expected to join the investigation to determine the nature of the blast and whether any explosives were involved.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid the area as rescue and investigation operations continue.
