What was expected to be one of the most high-profile celebrity weddings of the year, the union of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and filmmaker-composer Palaash Muchhal had already turned into a social media frenzy as celebrations kicked off in Sangli, Maharashtra.
Guests, fans and media were primed for the grand ceremony on November 23 when an unexpected series of events abruptly halted the festivities.
On the morning of the wedding, Smriti Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, was rushed to the hospital due to a heart-related issue. Just hours later, Palaash himself was reportedly admitted with viral symptoms and acidity complications, sending shockwaves across both families.
The Muchhals offered a brief confirmation shortly after, with singer Palak Muchhal announcing that the wedding stood postponed, prioritising the health and well-being of their loved ones.
Now, speaking to Filmfare, Palak has issued the first detailed comment from the family, reflecting on the emotional toll of the sudden turn of events.
“I think the families have been through a very, very tough time… we would like to believe in positivity in this time and spread positivity as much as we can. And stay strong,” she said, urging calm amid the rising speculation surrounding the couple.
