Amid the ongoing violent protest in Nepal over the government’s social media ban, protestors have now made the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s residence in his hometown, Damak their next target.
As reported by The Kathmandu Post, protestors hurled stones at Oli’s house, prompting police to fire warning shots to disperse the crowd.
This attack comes just hours after the Parliament gate in Kathmandu was destroyed to show dissent against the unjust law imposed by the government of Nepal.
What started as a peaceful protest has now taken a deadly turn as almost 16 people have lost their lives and several have been left injured in the ongoing clashes.
Authorities had earlier imposed curfews in key areas of Kathmandu, including Parliament, the government secretariat, and the presidential palace, but the violence has since spread to other regions.
With mounting casualties and growing anger, pressure lies on the government to either revoke the controversial ban or amend it.
