Amid rumors spreading around Imran Khan’s health, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has urged an immediate and transparent response from the government regarding his health and safety.
As reported by Dawn, the party raised alarm after authorities repeatedly refused requests from Imran’s sisters to meet him at Adiala jail.
Concerns escalated as unverified social media posts, including claims speculating about Imran’s death, spread widely on X, amplified by accounts from Afghanistan, India, and some foreign outlets.
The hashtag #WhereIsImranKhan trended on Thursday, intensifying pressure on the government.
In a statement issued on X, PTI condemned the circulation of “rumours of a despicable nature” and urged the government and interior ministry to “immediately and clearly dismiss and clarify” Imran’s status.
The party demanded an urgent meeting between Imran and his family, along with a formal, transparent state-issued statement on his health and security.
PTI also called for a probe into those spreading sensitive claims, warning that the nation “will not tolerate any uncertainty regarding the status of its leader”.
The party reaffirmed that it would take “every legal and political step” to counter misinformation and ensure Imran’s constitutional and human rights are protected.
