Russian President Vladimir Putin will undertake a state visit to India on December 4–5 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking a major high-level engagement between the two strategic partners.
During the visit, Putin and Modi will hold comprehensive talks covering the full spectrum of the Russia-India special and privileged strategic partnership, spanning politics, defence, trade, energy, science and technology, and cultural cooperation.
Putin is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu.
The visit comes against the backdrop of Washington’s decision to impose an additional 25% tariff on Indian crude imports from Russia.
The move has placed New Delhi under renewed pressure from the West, even as India has continued its energy trade with Moscow to safeguard economic and strategic interests.
Putin’s visit to India is likely to send a strong message to the world about strong relations between the two nations.
