S-400 defence system, which shot down Pak jets, to feature in R-Day parade

The 77th Republic Day Parade will feature the S-400 air defence system, attributed with playing a crucial role during India’s Operation Sindoor.

The advanced missile system was effectively deployed during the military operation launched in May last year, which targeted terror infrastructure following the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh had earlier confirmed that the S-400 system successfully intercepted and shot down five Pakistani fighter jets during the operation, underlining its importance in India’s air defence architecture.

The system will be displayed as part of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) tableau, themed “Tri-Services Tableau – Operation Sindoor”. The tableau will highlight joint operational synergy among the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar will lead the parade for the fourth consecutive year, with around 6,050 military personnel participating.

Key military platforms, including Bhairav, Shaktibaan, UGV and ATAGS, will also be featured during the celebrations on January 26.
