Praveer Ranjan, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, took charge on Tuesday as the new Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The paramilitary force safeguards India’s airports, sensitive space and nuclear installations, and government establishments.
Before becoming DG, Ranjan headed the aviation security sector of CISF as its special director general. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared his appointment on September 19.
Ranjan holds a postgraduate degree in History from Delhi University, a Master’s in Police Management from Osmania University, a Master’s in Public Management from the National University of Singapore and Harvard University, and an LLM from the National Law University, Delhi.
With a career spanning 32 years, he has held key roles including Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch Delhi, Deputy Inspector General at CBI, and Director General of Police, Chandigarh.
On his first day, Ranjan pledged to prepare CISF for future challenges through operational modernization, welfare initiatives, and transparent administration.
