Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his maiden ODI century on Saturday, reaching 111 runs as India closed in on South Africa’s target in the ongoing match at Vishakhapatnam.
His landmark knock, studded with 10 fours and a six not only powered India’s chase but also made him the sixth Indian to score a century in all three international formats.
Chasing 270, India raced to 221/1 after 37 overs, needing just 50 more runs for victory. Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma laid a dominant foundation with a 155-run opening stand, before Rohit departed for a well-crafted 75.
Earlier, India’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to restrict South Africa to 270. Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna were the standout performers, claiming four wickets each to put India in command from the outset.
