In a bizarre turn of events in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, two back-to-back elopements involving members of the same families left both households in shock.
According to police, a man first eloped with his wife’s 19-year-old sister, prompting her family to file a complaint.
However, just a day later, the woman’s brother ran away with the man’s 19-year-old sister, escalating tensions between the families.
The unusual chain of events quickly drew attention in the locality, with both families lodging complaints amid rising disputes.
Police traced both couples and brought the matter under control. “The situation was resolved after members of both families were called to the police station for a discussion,” said the station house officer (SHO).
Authorities confirmed that the matter has now been settled amicably, though the double elopement has become the talk of the town.
