NDA forms delegation to visit Karur stampede victims’ families

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has announced the formation of an eight-member delegation to visit Karur in Tamil Nadu following the deadly stampede at the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party’s rally.

BJP president JP Nadda constituted the committee, appointing BJP MP Hema Malini as the convenor.

The delegation includes senior BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Tejasvi Surya, Braj Lal, Aprajita Sarangi, Rekha Sharma, along with Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde and Telugu Desam Party’s Putta Mahesh Kumar.

The team will meet families of those who lost their lives, assess the ground situation, and submit a detailed report. Nadda extended his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

41 lives claimed in stampede

The tragic stampede during the TVK rally in Karur has claimed 41 lives, among them 18 women and 10 children.

The incident occurred on Saturday when panic broke out among attendees, leading to chaos and a deadly rush. Several others were injured and are receiving treatment in local hospitals.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragedy, while relief measures have been launched to support the affected families.

The NDA’s decision to send a fact-finding team comes amid mounting concerns over safety arrangements at the rally.
