In a recent development in the Faridabad terror case, a woman doctor from Lucknow has been arrested for her alleged involvement in a terror module operating across Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
The woman identified as Dr. Shaheen Shahid was arrested after police recovered an AK-47 rifle from her Swift Dezire car, which was reportedly possessed by another suspect, Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, in Faridabad. Ganaie, who hails from J&K was also taken into custody, earlier today.
The arrests come after a joint operation by the J&K Police, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Faridabad Police, which helped in breaking off a major terror conspiracy in the Delhi-NCR region.
Earlier in the day, with the help of intelligence inputs, authorities were able to recover 350 kg of explosives and ammunition from the rented home of another suspect, Dr Muzammil Shakil.
Shakil is an MBBS doctor and faculty member at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad. Reportedly, he rented the residence in Dhauj village about three months ago.
As per investigators, the seized arms and explosives might be linked to a cross-border terror network associated with terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
So far, seven arrests have been made in connection with the case. A case under the UAPA Act, BNS, Explosive Substances Act, and Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Nowgam in Jammu and Kashmir, while further investigations are undergoing.
