Pakistan PM blames India, Afghanistan for Islamabad suicide blast

Despite the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) taking the responsibility of suicide bombing in Islamabad that killed 12 people, Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif blamed India and Afghanistan for the attack.

Calling the perpetrators “Indian-sponsered terrorist proxies”, Sharif proposed that the attack was part of “India’s state-sponsored terrorism aimed at destabilizing Pakistan,” as reported by Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

Without any evidence, Sharif further claimed that the bombing at Islamabad’s G-11 judicial complex was planned from Afghan soil with India’s assistance.

International relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have strained over the past few weeks, with recent cross-border clashes in October leaving 70 people dead, including 50 Afghan civilians.

The two countries have since agreed to a fragile ceasefire, though talks to formalize it collapsed last week.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif called the latest blast a “wake-up call” amid renewed militant violence in the region.
