A 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her married lover in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area following an argument over a forced abortion, police said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Yashpal, a security guard, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
According to the police, the victim, Neha, had been living in the Om Vihar locality on rent for the past four years and was in a relationship with Yashpal for nearly eight to nine years.
In November, Neha became pregnant, after which Yashpal allegedly administered abortion pills to her without her knowledge by mixing them into a beverage, leading to the termination of the pregnancy. This reportedly triggered frequent disputes between the two.
On December 16, another argument broke out between them. Police said Yashpal allegedly pinned Neha to the bed and stabbed her several times in the neck with a knife before fleeing the scene.
A PCR call was received at 12.24 am, and the woman was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.
Doctors noted multiple stab wounds around her neck, abrasions on her hands and chest, nose bleeding and loss of consciousness at the time of admission.
A case has been registered under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway.
