A 27-year-old man, Alok Verma, was found dead by suicide in a hotel room in Radhe Nagar, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday morning, police said.
Hours before his death, Verma posted a photograph with his deceased first wife on his WhatsApp status, accompanied by the message: “I am coming to you. Please forgive me, everyone.”
Verma, a resident of Jalalpur village, had remarried after the death of his first wife, his family told police.
According to hotel manager Anshik, Verma had been staying at the hotel frequently over the past few months, often booking rooms two to three times a week.
He had checked in again around 9:30 pm on Monday but did not respond to knocks or calls, prompting hotel staff to alert authorities.
Police are investigating the incident, with further action to be taken following the post-mortem report. Verma’s family said he had shown no signs of distress in recent days.
