Another Hindu man was killed in Bangladesh on Tuesday, heightening concerns over the safety of minorities amid rising tensions in the country.
Bajendra Biswas (40), an Ansar member, was shot dead by his colleague in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district, according to Bangladeshi media reports. The accused, fellow Ansar member Noman Mia, has been arrested.
Confirming the incident, Monindra Nath, Acting Secretary General of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddha Christian Unity Council, told ANI that Biswas belonged to the Hindu community.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and police have launched an investigation.
The killing comes weeks after two other Hindus, Dipu Chandra Das and Amrit Mondal, were killed in separate incidents, including youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi, sparking fear among minority communities.
The situation has been further compounded by political uncertainty, with tensions already high following the death of veteran leader Khaleda Zia earlier in the day.
