US President Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner drew attention at the World Economic Forum in Davos after unveiling a real estate–driven vision for Gaza under the newly announced “Board of Peace” initiative.
At least 19 countries co-signed the board’s charter on Thursday, with Gaza identified as the first focus area. During the launch, Kushner presented a slide deck outlining redevelopment plans for the war-ravaged Palestinian territory, dividing Gaza into zones for future construction.
“We do not have a plan B,” Kushner said, asserting that cities in the Middle East could be rebuilt within two to three years.
Trump, in his closing remarks, referred to Gaza as “this beautiful piece of property,” suggesting the peace push between Israel and Hamas was shaped by its strategic location.
The proposal has drawn criticism amid ongoing humanitarian devastation in Gaza, where tens of thousands have been killed during Israeli military operations.
While leaders from parts of the Middle East, South America and Pakistan backed the charter, major European allies were notably absent, with India’s position still unclear, according to PTI.
