Renowned Indian actor and honorary Lieutenant Colonel Mohanlal has been awarded the Chief’s Commendation Card by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi.
The recognition was presented to Mohanlal for his continued association with the Indian Territorial Army and his contributions in promoting the spirit of patriotism and service among the youth.
Mohanlal, who holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel since 2009, became the first Indian actor to receive this distinction.
His role includes serving as an ambassador for the Territorial Army, encouraging young citizens to join the defense forces, and supporting awareness and relief initiatives.
The honor comes shortly after the legendary South Indian actor received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic recognition, at the 71st National Film Awards held on September 23, 2025.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to him at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, where he received a standing ovation.
