An Air India flight from Vienna to Delhi was diverted to Dubai on October 9 following a technical issue, the airline clarified on Friday.
The Boeing 787 aircraft landed safely in Dubai, where it underwent necessary checks before departing for Delhi the next morning.
While Air India did not specify the nature of the problem, the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) claimed the aircraft suffered failures across critical systems, including the autopilot, instrument landing system (ILS), and flight directors.
The pilots’ body urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to conduct immediate inspections of all Boeing 787s operating in India.
This marks the second technical incident involving Air India’s Dreamliner fleet within days, following a similar malfunction on October 5 in Birmingham, and comes months after the fatal June 12 Ahmedabad-London Gatwick crash that killed 260 people.
