As Bihar prepares for its Assembly elections, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday criticised reports suggesting Tejashwi Yadav as the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate.
Paswan said the alliance itself has not confirmed Yadav’s candidature and warned that internal clashes within the coalition could hinder Bihar’s development.
“Who says Tejashwi Yadav’s name is confirmed when even the alliance is not saying that? The people will not accept them. An alliance with so many internal clashes cannot develop Bihar,” Paswan told reporters.
Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi had supported declaring Yadav, the former deputy CM, as the alliance’s CM candidate.
Paswan’s comments come as he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Patna to discuss strategies for key constituencies ahead of the 243-seat elections scheduled for November 6 and 11, with counting on November 14.
