Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday released the fifth tranche of financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, transferring ₹10,000 each to 10 lakh women through direct benefit transfer.
With this round, the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme has risen to 1.56 crore. This is the first disbursement since the recent election, where Kumar returned to power for a record fifth consecutive term.
Addressing the event at his official residence, Kumar thanked the people, especially women, for their strong support and said the initiative aims to boost women’s entrepreneurship across the state.
He added that beneficiaries who effectively use the seed money for self-employment would later be eligible for additional assistance of up to ₹2 lakh, following an assessment of their ventures.
Nitish Kumar became Bihar’s Chief Minister for the 10th time after NDA’s sweeping victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
