A 25-year-old man allegedly killed his mother, sister and minor brother at their home in East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar by feeding them sweets laced with poisonous dhatura seeds, police said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Yashbir Singh, later walked into the Laxmi Nagar police station and confessed to the crime.
Police teams subsequently reached the family’s residence in the Subhash Chowk area, where the bodies of Kavita (46), Meghna (24) and Mukul (14) were found.
Preliminary investigations suggest the family was under severe financial stress. The accused, who was reportedly unemployed, claimed his father had been living separately for the past six months.
According to Delhi Police, Singh prepared ladoos mixed with dhatura seeds and fed them to his family members. After they lost consciousness, he allegedly killed them. His wife was not present during the incident, and her role is being examined.
An FIR has been registered and multiple teams are probing the case.
