Amid Bangladesh Cricket Board’s reluctance to travel to India for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2026, citing security threat, the ICC has issued a formal statement regarding their participation.
On Wednesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC), made it clear that the tournament will proceed as planned, with Bangladesh’s matches to be held in India.
In an official statement issued after an ICC Board meeting held via video conference, the global body said multiple security assessments, including independent reviews, found no threat to Bangladesh players, officials, media or fans at any of the Indian venues.
The ICC has rejected the BCB’s request to move the matches and has now given Bangladesh 24 hours to confirm whether they will take part in the tournament.
Reports suggest that if Bangladesh decline, Scotland will replace them in Group C, while their scheduled matches could also be treated as forfeits.
