Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of waging a proxy war to disrupt peace in the border state by pushing arms and ammunition through drones and orchestrating incidents such as grenade attacks.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav said Pakistan was attempting to portray Punjab as a “highly disturbed” state despite separatist elements receiving no public support.
He said arms, explosives and ammunition are being sent into Punjab from across the border using drones, while foreign-based handlers are directing operations from North America, Europe, Southeast Asia and Gulf countries.
The DGP said the police have foiled multiple attempts and busted modules linked to grenade attacks on police stations.
He also alleged that fake videos are being circulated on social media to create panic and project chaos.
“There is clear evidence of ISI involvement,” Yadav said, adding that Punjab Police are giving a befitting reply to all nefarious designs aimed at destabilising the state.
