Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday broke his silence on the turmoil within his family, urging party workers to prioritise organisational unity over personal disputes.
Addressing a meeting of RJD legislators in Patna, where Tejashwi Yadav was unanimously chosen as leader of the legislative party, Lalu said the controversy surrounding his daughter Rohini Acharya’s dramatic exit from politics was “an internal family matter.”
“It will be resolved within the family. I am there to deal with it,” the RJD chief told cadres, asking them to focus on strengthening the party after its disappointing performance of 25 seats in the recent Bihar assembly elections.
His remarks follow Rohini Acharya’s emotional outburst on social media, where she announced she was “disowning” her family and quitting politics.
In her X post, she blamed Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and Tejashwi aide Rameez for sidelining her, triggering further strain as her sisters Chanda, Ragini, and Hema left the family home on Sunday.
Misa Bharti, Lalu’s eldest daughter and Patliputra MP, echoed his appeal for restraint.
Speaking to reporters, she urged the media to highlight NDA’s promises, including one crore jobs and aid for Jeevika Didis, instead of focusing on personal rifts within the Yadav family.
