Amid rising woes on air quality, the Delhi government on Tuesday announced that its ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ policy will remain effective even after the lifting of GRAP-IV restrictions.
The government has made a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate mandatory for vehicles operating in the national capital.
Delhi’s Environment Minister Majinder Singh Sirsa said the decision aligns with the government’s resolve to sustain anti-pollution measures beyond emergency responses.
The announcement comes as Delhi’s air quality worsened further, slipping into the ‘severe’ category on Tuesday. At 3 pm, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 415, triggering fresh health concerns.
The pollution crisis was compounded by dense fog, with visibility dropping to just 50 metres at Palam and Safdarjung, leading to massive delays in flight and rail operations across the capital.
