Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced an immediate relief package of ₹1,500 crore for rain-ravaged Himachal Pradesh, which has been reeling under the impact of devastating floods and landslides.
Modi personally reviewed the situation during his visit to the affected areas, assuring all possible support from the Centre.
In addition to the relief package, Modi declared an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the families of those who lost their lives in the calamity, and ₹50,000 for those injured.
The announcement comes as a big relief as floods led to widespread damage to infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land, leaving thousands displaced. A visit to Punjab which has faced worst floods in years is also part of PM Modi’s schedule for today.
