During the ongoing debate on “Vande Matram” in Lok Sabha, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the government, alleging that the ruling regime was using the debate to distract citizens from real issues.
She said people across the country were “surrounded by problems” while the government had “no solutions” to offer.
Questioning the very need for such a discussion, Priyanka asked, “Why are we having a debate on Vande Mataram?”, asserting that there could be no debate on the national song itself.
Priyanka claimed the timing of the discussion was linked to the upcoming West Bengal elections and accused the government of attempting to level allegations against those who fought for India’s freedom.
She further said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “not the leader he used to be,” adding that his diminishing self-confidence and weakening policies were hurting the country.
