Mumbai Indians have officially announced the acquisition of all-rounder Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants in a ₹2 crore cash deal ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
The franchise released a video on Thursday welcoming the Mumbai-born cricketer back to his home side.
Thakur, who made his IPL debut in 2015 with Kings XI Punjab, has since represented several teams including Rising Pune Supergiant, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, and most recently, Lucknow Super Giants.
Known for his wicket-taking ability and handy lower-order batting, the 33-year-old brings depth to Mumbai Indians’ pace attack.
Currently, Thakur is leading the Mumbai team in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. His return to the five-time IPL champions marks a homecoming for the local star, who is expected to play a key role in the franchise’s bowling lineup.
