After a tragic bus tragedy in Saudi Arabia that killed 45 Indian Umrah pilgrims, the Telangana government has announced ₹5 lakh ex-gratia amount for the families of those from the state who died in the tragedy.
The state cabinet also decided to send a government delegation, led by Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Azharuddin, to Saudi Arabia to coordinate relief and support.
An AIMIM MLA, a senior Minority Welfare official, and two family members of each victim will accompany the team, the CMO said.
Among the 45 Indian Umrah pilgrims killed, most of them were from Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
The accident took place when the bus was travelling from Mecca to Madinah near Median. Only one passenger survived and is currently undergoing treatment. Hyderabad police commissioner confirmed.
The group had travelled to Jeddah on November 9 for Umrah and was scheduled to return on November 23.
