Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned the attack on Chief Justice of India, Justice BR Gavai, inside the Supreme Court premises earlier in the day.
Speaking about the incident, the PM said such reprehensible acts have no place in Indian society and called the attack “utterly condemnable.”
In his statement, the Prime Minister highlighted the composure displayed by Justice Gavai during the incident, praising it as a reflection of his unwavering commitment to justice and the values enshrined in the Constitution.
“The attack on him has angered every Indian. I appreciated the calm displayed by Justice Gavai in the face of such a situation.
It highlights his commitment to values of justice and strengthening the spirit of our Constitution,” the PM added.
The statement comes amid nationwide outrage over the shocking incident, with calls for strict action against the assailant and assurances that such threats to judicial authority will not be tolerated.
