The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which will cover around 51 crore voters across 12 states and Union Territories.
The states and UTs included in this phase are Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The ECI has also released a detailed schedule for the SIR Phase II:
- Printing and Training: October 28 – November 3, 2025
- House-to-House Enumeration: November 4 – December 4, 2025
- Publication of Draft Electoral Rolls: December 9, 2025
- Claims and Objection Period: December 9, 2025 – January 8, 2026
- Notice Phase (Hearing & Verification): December 9, 2025 – January 31, 2026
- Publication of Final Electoral Rolls: February 7, 2026
The Election Commission said the exercise aims to enhance the accuracy and inclusivity of voter lists ahead of upcoming state elections.
