More details have emerged about a deadly shooting that unfolded in Australia on Thursday, coinciding with the national day of mourning for the victims of last year’s Bondi Beach attack.
Police said the gunman, who remains at large, first went to a home in Lake Cargelligo in New South Wales’ Central West, where he shot and killed a woman believed to be his former partner and a man who was with her. Authorities said the attacker then travelled to a second residence in the same town.
At the second location, the gunman opened fire on two people known to him, killing a woman and seriously injuring a man, who was rushed to hospital in a stable but critical condition, according to local media reports.
The incident unfolded as flags flew at half mast across the country and Australians observed a minute’s silence for the 15 victims of the December 15 Bondi Beach terrorist attack.
Police have established multiple crime scenes and launched a large-scale search operation to locate the suspect.
