Counting of votes for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections is underway, with results for 121 seats declared so far.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading with 47 wins, followed by Shiv Sena (UBT) with 30, Shiv Sena with 14, and Congress securing 16 seats.
Smaller parties like MNS and AIMIM have won six seats each, while Samajwadi Party and NCP Ajit Pawar group have one seat each.
The elections, held on Thursday, saw a voter turnout of 52.94%. Trends indicate that the Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, is set to retain a strong presence in the BMC.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that the alliance would achieve a “full majority” and described the mandate as a “record” reflecting the public’s support for development and governance.
