iPhone 17 India launch: Fans queue overnight as sales begin

On Friday, September 19, Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup officially went on sale in India and several other countries. Excited buyers queued outside Apple Stores in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru hours before opening to collect their pre-booked iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and the new iPhone Air.

The highlight of this year’s launch is the premium iPhone 17 Pro Max, available in a prominent orange color that has drawn huge interest. The ultra thin iPhone Air has also generated buzz, but the Pro Max remains the most sought after model.

In Mumbai, police had to control crowds outside stores, with some people waiting since Thursday night. Early buyers praised the refreshed design and upgraded cameras, while others highlighted the new display and storage improvements.

The iPhone 17 series brings noticeable upgrades, including a 120Hz ProMotion display on the base model and 256GB storage as standard, with a moderate ₹3,000 price increase. However, the iPhone 17 Pro is ₹15,000 costlier than last year’s 16 Pro.

Apple’s growth in India continues, and the iPhone 17 launch is expected to push its momentum further in the premium smartphone segment.
